Bamboo Bambusa Oldhamii [POT SIZE: 30L]

COMMON NAME:  Sweet Shoot Bamboo

Bambusa Oldhamii is a fast growing and very hardy variety.   It has a dense upright growing habit which is ideal as a windbreaker or large screen.   As a windbreak they should be planted 2-3 meters apart as clumps can reach up to 2 meters in diameter.   Stem diameter is a substantial 10cm across and very strong.   The young shoots are edible and are grown commercially for this purpose.   They are very attractive and tropical looking but can withstand extreme cold and so are suitable for  the southern areas of Australia.   Originally from China.   Bambusa Oldhamii can grow in excess of 12 metres high and a width of approximately 2 metres wide.
