DESCRIPTIONS:
Euphorbia tirucalli Firesticks is a striking, low maintenance succulent shrub with bright orange and red stems. It is also known as the Pencil Cactus. It is a large succulent tree, popular in desert gardes around the world. Although, normally green, the orange/red form known as Firesticks is the most popular, turning vibrant orange in winter. In colder climates such as those around Melbourne, the colour is almost luminous.

Appearance:
* Evergreen shrub with pencil-like stems that grow upright and branch out.
* Smooth, cylindrical branches that creates a coral-like structure
* Small, green leaves that fall off shortly after appearing.
Climate:
* Drought hardy and frost tender
* Thrives in tropical or arid climates
* Prefers hot, dry locations with well drained soil
Maintenance:
* Requires very little maintenance
* Once established, can survive in natural rainfalls
* Can be cut back hard each season to keep them small
Toxicity:
* The Sap is extremely toxic if ingested
* Will cause burn or irritation if in contact with the skin or eyes
* Wear protective clothing and eyeware if necessary
* Keep out of reach from small children or pets.
Uses for:
* Great as a feature plant in pots or container, or mass planting in any garden or landscape
* Can be use as a wind break or screening plantC
* Can be use to make an attractive hedge
* Can be use as an erosion break for dry and bare soil sand dunes.
Soil Considerations :
* Use succulent or Cacti mix and add perlite for extra drainage
* Use a pot with good drainage holes to prevent root rot.
* Allow the soil to dry out between watering
* Water less during the dormancy period (fall and winter)
