Chamelaucium Local Hero PBR 5L
Chamelaucium Local Hero developed by Kings Park and Botanic Gardens is a beautifully graceful flowering native shrub which, when approaching spring, is covered in masses of glossy red buds. These are followed by an abundance of pink flowers in mid spring. Flowering for an extended period and complimented by a backdrop of fresh, green, fine foliage, creating an outstanding display. It is a fast growing rounded shrub reaching approximately 2m high x 1.5m wide. Preferring an open sunny to partly shaded position and it will grow in a wide range of free draining soil and is also suited to sheltered coastal areas. It is also tolerant of hot dry conditions and has a low water requirements once established. Chamelaucium Local Hero PBR are also popular as cut flowers as all Geraldton Wax are long lasting. Ideal for use in many styles of gardens or landscape for flowering colour and can be use as an informal hedge or screening. Plant them in free draining soil in a sunny to partly shaded position. It will also tolerate light frost and is drought resistant once established. Prefers low humidity climate. Prune lightly after flowering to encourage new growth and dense flowering next season. Avoid cutting into old wood. Fertilise yearly using a slow release native fertiliser.
