DESCRIPTIONS:
Dichondra Repens commonly known as Kidney Weed, Dichondra Repens is native to New Zealand and many other parts of Australia. Dichondra leaves are Kidney shaped hense giving it the common name of Kidney Weed. Dichondra is an excellent groundcover and will spread by putting its own roots where each node meets the soil, making it an ideal lawn substitute in cooler areas of Australia or in small partly shaded gardens in other areas where lawn mowers are hard to use. Dichondra is best to used between informal stepping stones and to fill small gaps in gardens. Dichondra is Waterwise and frost resistant once established. Dichondra Repens will only grow to 10 Centimeters high by 30 Centimeters wide. For best coverage, break plants apart to cover a larger area.

How to Care for Dichondra Repens in AustralianClimate:
* Watering - Water regularly, especially during the warmer months, and allow the soil to dry out between watering. Water deeply in early morning or late afternoon.
* Fertilising - Apply a slow release fertiliser in the spring, or liquid fertiliser during the flowering season.
* Pruning - if you wanted a uniform height, you can mow Dichondra 3 - 4 times a year.
* Protect from pests - Use slug and snail pellets to control sliugs and snails that damage younger growth.
* Propagation - Dichondra Repens can be propagated by digging up a spade or shovel full of plants and replanting them in prepared soil.
* Protect from disease - Avoid watering the leaves to prevent from fungal diseases.

* Sandy Loam - Is the best soil type for Dichondra Repens.
* Loamy - Loamy soil that are free draining but hold moisture are best.
* Avoid Clay - Clay doesn't work well for Dichondra because it holds too much water and do not drain properly.
Soil Preparation:
* Weed the soil thoroughly.
* Dig and cultivate the soil over to loosen it.
* Add compost or a 5cm layer of good quality topsoil to sandy soil.
How to Plant Dichondra Repens:
* Plant your Dichondra Repens in full sun to partly shade.
* Dig a hole that is at least twice the size of the pot.
* Plant them from 25 - 30 Centimeters apart.
