Tupidanthus calyptratus, commonly known as the Mallet Flower or Umbrella Tree, is a fast growing, tropical evergreen tree or shrub.  It's known for its glossy, bright green, palmate leaves that droop down-ward, giving it a attractive, weeping appearance.  It produces greenish flowers in spring and summer, followed by mallet-shaped seed pods. It can be grown in gardens or containers and is a popular choice for adding a tropical look to your landscape. 

Appearance:  The flowers are large, glossy and bright green, arranged in a palmate (hand-like) pattern with multiple leaflets radiating from a central point. The drooping foliage creates a weeping effect. 

Flowers :  The flowers are greenish and appeared during spring and summer.  They develop into unique, mallet-shaped seed pods. 

Growth:  It's a fast growing plant, reaching a height of 3 to 6 meters with a similar spread. 

Sunlight:  Prefers full sun to partial shade. 

Soil:  Thrives in rich, well drained soil. 

Plant used:  suitable for tropical themed garden, containers, poolside planting or even as an indoor plant with a bright light. 

Watering:  Regular watering is required but do not over water.
